# Subnets

> Where workloads run and capacity participates.

A subnet is the target where workloads run and where nodes provide capacity.
A subnet belongs to one region.

## Placement

Operators choose a region when creating a subnet. Builders choose a subnet when deploying a workload. Operators define who can use the subnet. Providers connect nodes that can supply capacity to it.

Use the [command reference](/cli/reference/generated) for exact command syntax.
