# idyl actor

> Read, interrupt and delete Actors and admit input

Read stable Actor identity and admit input through the development population API.
Admission returns before delivery, execution or saving completes. An Actor's
Computer has the same stable identity; reading it starts no execution.

## Usage

```bash theme={null}
idyl actor
```

## Aliases

* `actors`

## Commands

| Command | Description |
| - | - |
| `idyl actor delete` | Delete an Actor |
| `idyl actor get` | Read an Actor and its Computer reference |
| `idyl actor interrupt` | Interrupt an Actor's live Agent execution |
| `idyl actor invoke` | Admit immutable JSON input for an Actor |

## Inherited flags

| Flag | Description |
| - | - |
| `-a <string>, --account-id <string>` | Account ID to use, overriding the current context. |
| `-c <string>, --context <string>` | Use the named context for this command. |
| `--homedir <string>` | Override the configuration directory. Defaults to \~/.config/idyl. |
| `-n <string>, --namespace <string>` | Namespace to address, overriding the entered context. |
| `--network <string>` | Override the Network for this command. |
| `-p <string>, --profile <string>` | Override the access profile for this command. |
| `-s <string>, --subnet <string>` | Subnet to use for this command, overriding the current context. |

## Subcommand reference

### `idyl actor delete`

Delete an Actor and dispose of its Computer as its Run recorded.

Deletion closes new input admission at once and interrupts every uncompleted
input of the Actor, including inputs that were never delivered; outcomes
already recorded are kept. The Actor then moves to deleting, which removes its
Computer, or to retaining, which converts the Computer into an independent
Computer with the same identity and saved versions. Read the Actor to follow
progress. Repeating the command is safe.

You will be prompted for confirmation unless the --yes flag is provided.

#### Usage

```bash theme={null}
idyl actor delete <actor-id> [flags]
```

#### Aliases

* `rm`

#### Flags

| Flag | Description |
| - | - |
| `-o <string>, --output <string>` | Output format: table, json, yaml. Default: `table`. |
| `-y, --yes` | Skip confirmation prompts. |

#### Examples

```bash theme={null}
idyl actor delete 01890a5d-ac96-774b-bcce-b302099a8061
idyl actor delete 01890a5d-ac96-774b-bcce-b302099a8061 --yes -o json
```

### `idyl actor get`

Read an Actor and its Computer reference

#### Usage

```bash theme={null}
idyl actor get <actor-id> [flags]
```

#### Flags

| Flag | Description |
| - | - |
| `-o <string>, --output <string>` | Output format: table, json, yaml. Default: `table`. |

### `idyl actor interrupt`

Fence the Actor's live Agent execution at a new authority epoch.

Running script commands are ended, delivered inputs without a published
completion settle as interrupted, and work the execution had not saved is
discarded. Accepted inputs that were never delivered stay pending for the same
Actor, which continues from its last saved version. The result states whether
live execution was interrupted; when none was live, nothing changes, so
repeating the command is safe. It requires computer:update on the Actor's
Namespace.

You will be prompted for confirmation unless the --yes flag is provided.

#### Usage

```bash theme={null}
idyl actor interrupt <actor-id> [flags]
```

#### Flags

| Flag | Description |
| - | - |
| `-o <string>, --output <string>` | Output format: table, json, yaml. Default: `table`. |
| `-y, --yes` | Skip confirmation prompts. |

#### Examples

```bash theme={null}
idyl actor interrupt 01890a5d-ac96-774b-bcce-b302099a8061
idyl actor interrupt 01890a5d-ac96-774b-bcce-b302099a8061 --yes -o json
```

### `idyl actor invoke`

Admit one JSON input and return its durable Invocation before delivery completes.
The input file is data, never shell source or interpolated program arguments.
Retry an uncertain response with the same input and idempotency key. A new
execution of the same work requires a new key, including after a lost or
interrupted outcome. Cancellation stops the request, not already admitted work.

#### Usage

```bash theme={null}
idyl actor invoke <actor-id> [flags]
```

#### Flags

| Flag | Description |
| - | - |
| `--idempotency-key <string>` | Required. Stable admission key; reuse it for the same input. |
| `--input <string>` | Required. Input as a JSON file; explicit JSON null is allowed. |
| `-o <string>, --output <string>` | Output format: table, json, yaml. Default: `table`. |
